Non Surgical Anti Aging Treatments - What Are They?

Many middle aged women (and men) who aren’t quite ready for a facelift are turning to non surgical anti aging treatments to keep them looking younger. To meet the demand, new treatments are being developed all the time which is good news for anyone who wants to get a younger look without having surgery. Here are some of the latest non surgical treatments that can help you look younger.

Restylane
This is a gel that is injected in strategic areas to reduce wrinkles and plump up your skin. It is made from nonanimal hyaluronic acid mixed with water and actually replaces the hyaluronic acid that you naturally have, but which is reduced by aging. It is typically used on the frown line, smile lines, lips, chin and cheeks and can even be injected in the décolletage and hands. It lasts 6 to 12 months and then you must have the treatment repeated.

Botox
Botox isn’t actually a new treatment - it’s been around quite some time. This is a protein that relaxes the muscle and is typically used in between the brow to reduce the frown lines. Like Restylane, it is injected under the skin with a needle. Botox only lasts about 4 months.

Hylaform
Hylaform is used around the mouth. It is recommended for the nasal labial folds (the wrinkles that run from your nose to the side of your mouth), to treat feather lip lines and to plump up your lips which can get thinner as you age. It’s made from hylaronic acid
And is a rather mild treatment.

Thread Lift
The thread lift is kind of like a face lift without the cutting. Strings are attached under the skin and then are “stretched” to pull the skin taught much like is done in a face lift. The strings actually stay in there and if your skin starts to sag again, you can actually have them tightened up!

There are also many surface repair treatments that don’t involve needles. Glycolic peels and Retin-A work on smoothing out fine lines and giving the skin a healthy glow and are simply applied topically. Laser resurfacing and microdermabrasion involve a little more effort in the doctors office but can give the skin a fresh new look without cutting or needles.

Deciding which anti aging treatments are for your is a personal decision, but one that should be made along with your dermatologist who will be able to objectively look at your skin and recommend the treatment that will be best.

Anti Aging Skin Secrets - Diet Plays an Important Role in How Your Skin Ages

When you're younger, you can play around a bit with your diet. You have a few days of no water, lots of salt and few fruits and vegetables and look as if nothing has changed. But as you age, your skin shows that kind of abuse. Over time, it will be hard to get your skin to age gracefully.

Following the right diet, then, is essential to a good anti aging regimen. Eating the right foods, in the right combination and at the right times, can do much for the quality and condition of your skin as it ages.

Let's look at three diets that will help you get and maintain youthful looking skin: The low GI diet, the Perricone 3-day face lift diet, and the raw food diet.

Low GI diet

The low GI diet refers to a diet in which most of the foods eaten are low on the glycemic index. The glycemic index rates foods based on how quickly they are absorbed by the body. Those that are broken down quickly are high on the GI, while those that are processed slowly are rated low on the GI scale.

Why does it matter? When you eat foods that are low on the GI scale, you regulate your blood sugar level, which helps you to keep your appetite (and therefore your consumption) level as well. In addition, low GI foods are rarely highly processed foods, but rather they are foods that are usually close to their whole state.

Examples of foods low on the GI scale include oats, many fruits and vegetables (except those that are higher in sugar and starches) and lean proteins. An apple, for example, is at the low end of the GI scale. When you eat an apple, you likely find that it fills you up nicely, but after eating watermelon, you're still hungry. Watermelon ranks quite high on the GI scale.

Putting the right foods in your mouth helps your skin to stay supple, moist and bright looking, even as you age.

Perricone 3-day face-lift diet

Dr. Nicholas Perricone is the name behind this diet, which he considers a jumpstart to his 28-day plan, but which many people follow without every doing the 28-day plan.

It's called a 3-day face lift because he provides a solid meal plan for 3 days that you follow and at the end of that period, he nearly guarantees that your skin will look suppler, brighter and will have more moisture. In turn, you will look younger.

The diet relies heavily on the heavy consumption of salmon, which helps to provide the skin with the essential oils necessary to keep skin moist and healthy looking.

Raw food diet

Those who follow a raw food diet claim many health benefits - greater energy and vitality, a reduction in illness and the lack of any additional illness and easy weight management or weight loss.

A raw food diet is just what it sounds like - dieters eat a diet primarily full of raw foods. There is a bit of room (about 10%) for foods that aren't completely raw, but even those foods can only be heated minimally so as to not destroy any of the beneficial elements of the raw food.

Because none of the food eaten is processed, and the diet is largely vegan, dieters report that their skin looks younger and more vital. They have fewer skin problems and notice healing of any skin ailments they might previously have had.

Any diet that provides significant benefit to the skin will require a little work on your part (finding and cooking all that salmon, managing all those fruits and vegetables, staying way from processed food), but experts and dieters report the benefits are well worth the effort.

Keeping Your Mind Young

As you age, there are a lot of changes that go on in your body. You start to get wrinkles, you might gain weight, your muscles aren’t quite as strong anymore etc.. But perhaps the most disturbing thing about aging is that your mind starts to slow down too. While people used to just take this as “part of getting older”, today we don’t have to accept mental decline as inevitable because there are many things you can do to keep your mind young.

One of the most important things you can do for your mind and body is to eat right. Just like any other cell, free radicals can damage your brain cells, so you want to include foods like fruits and vegetables in your diet as these are high in anti oxidants that can render those free radicals harmless. Eating enough high antioxidant fruits can have other health benefits such as increasing blood flow to the brain and helping our bodies make more acetylcholine which is an important neurotransmitter that aids in mental function.

Stress can be a major contributor to mental decline and studies have shown that people who easily get stressed have a higher risk of cognitive impairment. One thing you should do is make sure you have a good method for handling stress because, in this day and age, it can’t always be avoided. Keeping up with your exercise routine will help and meditation can also be a great stress reliever. In fact, meditation can help improve attention span and memory.

Of course, sleep is important for good brain function as well. While you are sleeping, your brain is actually at work storing and sorting the information from the day. Not sleeping enough leaves things disjointed and you will likely be moody and not perform as well the next day.

One reason why older people suffer from mental decline is that they simply are not as engaged in life as they were at a younger age. With little to do the brain does little - it needs exercise to keep healthy just like the rest of you. It’s important to stay active in your older years - get involved in the community or volunteer to do something you really enjoy. This will keep those little gray cells active.

Finally, you want to keep up with your physical exercise regimen. Not only does exercise increase blood flow to the brain, but it keeps your whole body healthy and gets you out of the house and into the world. If you like to walk, then take some time to smell the roses, engaging all your sense will give your brain a workout as well as your body.

Anti Aging Skin Care Products - Can They Stop the Aging Process?

While talking about anti aging skin care products, the first thing we are thinking of is women's beauty, though today even men care about their appearance. Of course, anyone would like to look young forever, even though it is impossible to stop time.

Is it possible to stop the aging of the skin?

But recent researches have proven that it is possible to linger the aging process in spite of the fact it is a natural process. So on modern market modern vendor companies offer mostly two types of skin treatment products, as an effective solution for young and beautiful skin:

1. Vitamin C based anti aging skin products;

2. Phytochemicals.

Vitamin C based anti aging skin products

How work vitamin C based facial skin products?

Among such skin care products, vitamin C based anti aging skin solutions are more popular and wide-spread. Such kinds of products are also considered anti-oxidants. Thanks to the vitamin C, these products enable the synthesis of collagen known as a structural protein of skin. This tissue is very important in order to provide the youth of skin forever. But the only problem with such beauty products based on vitamin C, is they may get oxidised themselves while contacting with air during their usage.

Therefore as an alternative solution, some anti aging skin care products are made on basis of the derivatives of vitamin C, which are more stable, safe and at the same time less expensive. But the worse thing is that anti aging skin care based on such products are not as effective as with vitamin C based anti aging skin care solutions.

Do you know the main ingredients of anti-oxidant skin care products?

Besides vitamin C, such skin products, especially creams include vitamin E and liponic acid that are also anti-oxidants:

• Vitamin E - a fat-soluble anti-oxidant found in human blood is all-important in building resistance against infection. This vitamin is also considered to be effective in prevention against cancer.

• Liponic acid is popular at fighting against the signs of early aging, as it effectively goes deep into cells and tissues of skin and refreshes the areas damaged by the aging process.

Phytochemicals

Phytochemicals is the other type of anti aging skin care products which are also popular today. As you see from the name, phytochemical are special chemicals extracted from plants. Today one may find a large variety of phytochemicals available on the market. This type of products is very effective in prevention from cancer of certain types, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer. Therefore, they are so popular among modern anti aging treatments.

Besides all above mentioned ingredients, if you look through at your cream or other skin care product, you may notice that group of B-vitamins like B5, B6 and B12 are also included in them.
